First LISA Double Access in Europe

DIAL Telecom is the first ever customer with LISA Double Access

With the exponentially increasing number of connected devices, operators must deploy future-proof fiber management systems and technologies to keep up with the demands for connectivity and connection speeds. Our long-time customer Dial Telecom, a.s. met this challenge and was offered the new cross-connect fiber management system LISA Double Access.

Technicians from Dial Telecom, a.s. appreciate the simple and efficient cable handling offered by this solution. Any port in the rack can be reached with a 3.5 m patch cord, which makes handling and logistics much easier.

Compared to a traditional LISA solution with the same port density, using LISA Double Access 1500mm racks reduces space requirements by 17%.

We asked Mr. Milan Tybus, head of the Metropolitan Optical Network Prague team at Dial Telecom a.s., a few questions about the new LISA Double Access product.

What do you see as the advantages of this product?

“The main advantage of the newly delivered system is the higher density, which allows us to terminate more fibre optics in a smaller area in the data centres, thus reducing rental costs.”

What problems did you encounter and how did we solve them together?

“Unfortunately, the manufacturer, HUBER+SUHNER, failed to meet the delivery deadline, the delivery was not complete and some parts were damaged, so we had to go through the standard complaint process, which delayed the final handover of the unit even further. We were not completely satisfied with this part, but in the end, in cooperation with the system supplier PEI-Genesis and its employee Mr. Berecky, they brought everything to a successful end.
We take the complications in the delivery of the system as a tax for being the first operator to deploy the system in the network. Once we ironed out these initial complications, everything went smoothly and without a hitch.”

What about the future? Are you planning any development using our system?

“We are currently in the process of deploying the LISA double access system in the DC Tower data centre with a planned delivery in August 2020, and we plan to deploy the system in other nodes of our network as well.”

What do you use it for, what has it really helped you with?

“We use LISA double access optical cabinets primarily in data centers where there are high requirements for the amount of fiber termination and the resulting need to deploy high-density systems. The use of the LISA system results in real cost savings for renting space in datacentres and enables further development.
The LISA system helped us solve the migration of the backbone technology within the Cecolo telehouse from the POP1 room to the new DT cage in room 141.”
